Catching Up!

I know, I know...I'm really far behind!  September just kind of disappeared with school starting and me working full time now.  I don't know what to call myself anymore.  Since I had kids, I've been a work at home mom.  But now that I go to the studio to work, the 2 younger ones come with me.  So who knows what my title is.  A take-your-kids-to-work kind of mom.  I don't know...
Anyways, here are some of the little cherubs who paid me a visit last week.  And I promise to post some from all of the recent sessions!!
For anyone looking to book a session this fall...call or e-mail soon.  I have a few openings on Saturdays before the leaves are expected to fall completely off and the weather turns chilly.  Mid week is a lot more flexible.

Miller & Pisoni Families

It was such a pleasure photographing the Pisoni and Miller families in San Diego last month.  It felt good to give some of my favorite kids a hug in person since we're so far away!!

The Webb Family

I have never been told to go home by someone I was photographing...until I went to San Diego in August.  And I don't think he's even 2 yet!  But Mr. G, what you didn't realize was that I didn't fly to San Diego to leave without photographing you!  I still think you're cute, though!  I've also never had someone unwilling to part with a skateboard...especially an older brother's skateboard.  I know you'll enjoy some of these shots...

Studio Hours

We are usually in the studio from 10:00 A.M. to 3:30 P.M. and by appointment.  Please call before stopping by because we might be at an on location shoot or running errands and would hate to miss you!

I am still photographing and you can preview your images outside of those times, but in case you drop by, a warm body is usually here during those hours.

Anderson/Boykin Senior Portraits

We played tag team through Balboa Park in San Diego for Katie and Justin's senior portrait sessions.  I've done more seniors this year than I have in the past and have enjoyed the difference between young children and nearly adults.  For instance, most toddlers aren't allowed to have "have at it" in a fountain like this!  Katie and Justin...watching you guys interact reminded me so much of Mike and myself.  And even though we have 4 kids, it seems like it was just yesterday that we were dating.  Enjoy these years and keep me posted on college plans!

Serrano Family

You would never know it by these images, but it took me 4 years to get a smile from Alyssa.  She's now almost 7 and her mom stuck with me through my early photography years.  Alyssa, you know you're beautiful!!

The Best Family - San Diego Portrait Session

Little Garrett came all the way from the LA area while I was in San Diego last month.  No small feat through summer traffic!  I met his mommy, Jessica, in college.  I know you've already grown, Garrett, but I hope this moment in time has been captured for your mommy and daddy!

Wacky Family Portrait Contest

It's been a crazy (but mostly good crazy) summer with all of our traveling and opening our studio all with 4 small kids in tow.  I'm looking forward to school starting tomorrow and getting into a routine.

If you would like a family session, book soon, because Saturdays in the fall are almost fully booked.  Contact me for remaining dates...  I thought to kick off the family festivities that are looming before us, I would have a wacky family contest.  It won't be anything like the bebe contest, though.  My offer is simply this...

You have until September 30, 2008 to pitch to me the wackiest (but safe!) idea you can think of for your family session (hot air balloon ride, innertubing on the river, tutus on a tractor...you get the idea!).  I'll choose 2 winners and those winners will get the new 8x8 family albums that we are offering along with a free session.  The albums are a cute size and look like a coffee table book.  We'll post some product shots next week.  The session can happen between October 1 and December 31, 2008.  So you New Yorkers and Floridians are eligible!

I will post the 2 winning pitches in early October and images will be posted as the sessions occur.

Referrals

Word of mouth advertising has been a huge part of my business and in Williamsburg, it seems that everyone knows each other or you know someone who knows someone. To thank you for spreading the word about my business, I am offering a $10 gift certificate for every person you refer and who comes to the grand opening. The person you refer must be a new client and only one person gets credit for each referral. (For example...if you and 5 friends all know "Jane" and "Jane" comes to the grand opening, only one of you gets the $10 credit for "Jane" coming and not all 6 of you.)

An old Ford

We were able to see my family in Oklahoma on the way to Lindsey's wedding in Texas and of course I just had to hunt down an old Ford.  My dad was a good sport and let the kids dress him up in all kinds of things...  Along the way, we saw the Oscar Meyer Weinermobile in Lexington, Kentucky and we also picked up a few things for the studio on our trip.  Never mind that we were all squished for the rest of the trip!!  My family often complains that they don't get enough pictures of my kids.  I take the pictures...I just don't distribute them often enough.  So here you go, guys!  You should be good to go for the next year or so...

Carrie & William

Carrie and William's wedding was especially unique because the Fifes and Drums played during the wedding as William was a member of the Corps for a long time.  You can view their wedding photos here.

Leslie & Jason's Wedding - June 14, 2008

Leslie and Jason were married at Resurrection Church and the reception was at Kiln Creek Golf Resort, both in Newport News.  For the first time in the 8 years that I've been photographing weddings, I had security called on me while at the salon, which was inside a mall.  How was I to know that cameras are not allowed in that mall when it's not posted anywhere??  Despite that bump, their day was beautiful and they are fun to be around!  Here's a link to their wedding images. (Click on the word "link".)

Chris and Jill's Wedding

Despite the 103 degree heat for Chris and Jill's wedding in early June, everyone had a great time at the Wren Chapel and William and Mary Alumni House in Williamsburg. Sallie of Williamsburg Weddings & Events, www.williamsburgweddingsandevents.com coordinated the wedding. Visit www.capturethismoment.com/jillchris for a brief slide show of their wedding images.
